Rentio
An unattended store's smart lockers enable same-day rentals and returns on event day
Background
Rentio, a rental service for home appliances and camera gear, normally ships items to customers' homes or hotels, and binocular rentals started at 3 nights / 4 days. Many customers asked to rent "for a short time at a lower price" and "more casually", so Rentio decided to open a store near the concert venue where items could be picked up and returned.
Solution
Rentio opened "Rentio Tokyo Dome-mae supported by Kenko Tokina" in front of Suidobashi Station. With "Rentio GO", a new system that makes full use of the KEYVOX Locker API, customers pick up items they reserved online on the spot from the unattended store's lockers.
Results
Image-stabilized binoculars can now be rented and returned on the day of a concert, right near the venue. The initiative was also covered by the Nikkei.
