Getting Started
How long does installation take?+
Once the BCL-QR1 LE is mounted, connected to Wi-Fi and paired with the cloud, you can set access permissions on the dashboard and start operating. A retrofit on an existing door can go live as early as the same day. Allow extra time for lock or electrical work if you are replacing a deadbolt thumb-turn with MIWA Lock's PiACKII, or wiring a BR1/WD1 module into an electric lock or automatic door control panel.
Is construction work required?+
It depends on the installation method. The BCL-QR1 LE is a QR reader and keypad mounted on the door frame, and it runs on four AA batteries, so there are configurations that require no electrical work. If you run it on continuous power, or use a BR1/WD1 module to control an electric lock, electromagnetic lock or automatic door, you will need a 100V outlet and wiring to the control panel. Deadbolt locks are handled by replacing the indoor thumb-turn with MIWA Lock's PiACKII; the physical key cylinder remains in place.
What types of doors are compatible?+
Deadbolts integrate with PiACKII from MIWA Lock (conditions apply, including door thickness and a backset of 51 mm or more). Electric locks, electromagnetic locks and automatic doors are controlled through the dedicated BCL-BR1 (Bluetooth) or BCL-WD1 modules. Sliding doors and locks that cannot take PiACKII are covered by the SESAME integration, and outdoor gates and fences by combining an electromagnetic lock. For doors where no smart lock can be installed, the BCL-BX1 key box stores and hands over the physical key. Please contact us if you are unsure whether your door is supported.
Does it work where the internet connection is unstable?+
No internet connection is required at the moment of unlocking. Our patented offline QR code technology (Patent No. 7717372) lets users unlock with a QR code or PIN code regardless of network conditions. Wi-Fi is used for key distribution, log retrieval and remote management.

Are there any upfront costs?+
There are no setup fees. You only pay for the device itself and the monthly (or annual) subscription. Every plan includes a 30-day free trial. See the pricing page for current rates.
What are the free plan limitations?+
The feature available at no monthly cost is Visitor Management. You can issue keys with a specified expiry date up to the end of the following month, and create an unlimited number of visitor-management operators. Four limitations apply: keys are valid only through the end of the following month (long-term keys, including unlimited duration, require a paid subscription); only the 5 most recent issuances are shown in the history; it cannot be used in the same organization as devices on a paid plan; and automated integrations such as API and PMS are not available.
How do I pay, and what is the contract period?+
Payment is by credit card. Annual billing is also available by bank transfer and costs the equivalent of 11 months' fees for a full year. Every plan includes a 30-day free trial.
Security
What happens if a PIN code is compromised?+
You can immediately change or revoke PIN codes from the admin dashboard. Every unlock is recorded in the cloud, so you can check who unlocked the door and when.
Is communication encrypted?+
Communication with the cloud is TLS-encrypted. API integrations require HMAC-SHA256 signature verification using an API key issued in the BACS dashboard, together with IP address whitelisting for your server.
What happens if the battery dies?+
The BCL-QR1 LE runs for approximately 6 months on four AA batteries, and you receive a low-battery alert on the dashboard. Even if the battery runs out, you can supply power from a mobile battery through the USB Type-C external power port and unlock the device. Note that remote unlocking is unavailable while running on batteries, and log synchronization and key distribution run at scheduled intervals. If the PiACKII on the deadbolt side runs out of battery, the door can only be opened with the physical key, so always plan for physical-key operation in an emergency.
Integrations & API
Which PMS and OTA platforms are supported?+
We integrate via API with PMS platforms and channel managers including AirHost, beds24, HOTEL SMART, innto, minpakuIN, Check Inn and MujInn. Reservations from OTAs such as Airbnb, Booking.com and Rakuten Travel are received through these integration partners, and PIN codes or QR codes are issued automatically in sync with each reservation. Is an API available?+
We publish a REST API. In addition to the API Plan for integrating with existing systems, the Office Pack includes the Lock API and the Ultimate Space Business Pack includes the Booking API.
Can I integrate with Google Calendar?+
Yes. Google Calendar integration is supported. In addition to hourly rentals and rental spaces, Web Check-in can also pull in reservations from various booking platforms through Google Calendar.
